Low Vision, or Visual Impaired

Are you slowly losing your vision? It happens to a lot of us as we age, and it's scary to even think about, let alone deal with. I think the word "blind" is about as scary as anything we can think of.. but once it is faced head on, we can do something about it.    Life is what it is.. and coping is required. Visual aids can be a big help.
Good news is: there's lots of help, from special glasses to cut the glare, to software that will read what is on the screen outloud to you. The solutions needed are different for different situations, but here are some resources I've found.

A lot of organizations have websites just full of information.. so that is where you need to get your "further education", to learn about "possibilities", always with the co-ordinated input from your doctor, of course.

• National Association for Visually Handicapped  This site has information about many different causes of visual impairment, a Lending Library of Large Print Books, and a catalog of many items to purchase.

• LVC This site has a quarterly Newsletter to keep you informed, and a LOT of other links.

• Assistive Tech  This site offers grants to help pay for that VERY expensive equipment that could make a big difference in the quality of your life.
