If it's nice outside..STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER!
Go for a walk, a bike ride.. or whatever you'd like to do for outside enjoyment...
but if it's better to be inside, you can find a lot of ways on your computer to spend some fascinating time (a LOT of time!).
Playing games on the computer is also a great way to become better at using the mouse.
In my classes, one of the ways we start is by playing Solitaire. It's already in your computer.

In Win 7, just two clicks:

When you have the program open, the menu at the top will give you instructions: Game, Options or Help. There's usually a demo under Game, and the controls explained under Options.
There's enough there to use up a LOT of time: Hearts, FreeCell, etc.. I love Pinball. Just enough noise (which you can turn off), and it requires just a little learning how to do it.
You have to do a SEARCH for what you would like to play. With an up-to-date browser, you can type into the address box: Crosswords or Poker, or whatever you'd like to play, then press the ENTER Key once. The next window will show you a list of a LOT of sites that have what you are looking for. Take your pick, and click on the underlined blue "link" words.
If you end up somewhere you don't want to be, just move the mouse up to the upper left corner and click on the "Go back arrow". That will take you back to the page before. See, that's easy!
This is a world that never stops!! There's no way I can direct you to all the hobbies. On the Internet, you can find anything about any hobby you can think of. Just use that link or the Search box and you will soon have information about stamps, quilting, woodwork, decoupage, radio controlled planes, or scrapbooking. You'll also have the addresses and phone numbers of suppliers all over the world.
One that a LOT of people enjoy is sharing their digital photos. Taking them is easy, but the creativity starts flowing when you learn how to edit photos and then show them online to the world.
Just a quick line to tell you about my pet hobby, building this website! People all over the world are learning how to do it, and making money at it, too!
I think the most amazing thing about the Internet, or the Web, is how people from all over are using it to talk to everyone and anyone about their interests and passions. They can email, or "blog", or make a video and put in on YouTube, but best of all is the give and take of people with the same interests in "Forums". This is how we are changing the world.
Social Networking
You've heard people talk about Facebook, My Space, etc.. (I'll do a new page on them later.)
When I said "passions".. oh, yes! The Internet Dating sites have caused quite a stir! Both fun and risky at the same time, you must use common sense when putting your information out in public, but even more so, when eventually there comes the chance to meet. Believe me, it isn't all as sweet as the movie "You've Got Mail!"
You have to remember that people can and do LIE! That beautiful blonde probably isn't!
On the other hand, there are a lot of couples today who tried it out, and found their mates. It's much less risky than the bar scene, and cheaper too. Just remember, millions of people are looking!
