My first thoughts- -
First read my page on Buying a Computer, especially the information about computers especially setup for Seniors.
and here's another... Be sure to ASK HER what she thinks she would like. (unless it's a surprise, of course.) She may not WANT a small one.. If her vision is going, she might prefer a monitor with a large screen and a wireless keyboard and mouse to hold in her lap.
One important thought is that you get one with the same Operating System that she used on yours. It needs to be familiar. I'll assume it was XP, which means you may have trouble finding one now.
It's a shame, but the smaller the computer, the easier it is to steal. There could be a problem in some residences with theft. ( just like at summer camp, etc.) You will want to find out about anti-theft recovery systems like Lo-jack for $15/yr. Then you'll be able to get it back. Lojack for laptops
She won't need the expense of a big hard drive.. but you want to try to find one with at least 2 Gig of RAM memory, so it will work fast. We don't have a lot of patience!
We're not that hard to please. It's nice that you care.Note: Please click on my Advertising Policy Statement link in the footer below.
