If this is your very first time here... Welcome! Glad you found us!
A lot of my friends are just
starting to use computers. They've received one as a gift.. or
seen some of the great things you can do with a
computer.
Computers have done all that and more for me.. and I want to share it with you, as I do with those I teach at our Beginning Computer Classes. (You don't have to be "old" but it does make it more exciting!)
Other problems?, our physical difficulties, such as...
There are several sites that do a great job giving computer help for beginners, and I'll recommend them to you with links to them. You'll even find them fun.
Clicking on a link is similar to turning the page in a book.
It takes you to a different page.
However, it might even take you to a different website, so
before you do,
I hope you will mark this one as a
"Favorite" (or "Bookmark"
it) so you can find it again easily.
How do I do
that??
Lesson #1:
NOTE: Most things on the computer don't really happen until you click a "Done", "Finish" or a "Save" button.
When you click on the simple gold star, or click on the Favorites button up at the top menu, you could see a list of sites already on the list. If you added it, you can see this one listed at the bottom. After you go to use other sites, just click there to come back. Try it now.
There are many other pages that will add to your enjoyment of your
computer, and I add new information as I can.
If you'd like to see what's New..click the button "What's New" on the left.
If you're brand new to this computer world, you need to start with the page called First to learn how to use the mouse and the keyboard. It isn't just a typewriter, and every one of all those keys has a purpose!
Then, you need to understand the basics of how to use Windows. This will take you through learning the Windows terms, using the Start button menu, how to shut it down correctly and the maintenance required. This is not a delicate machine, but it is a complicated one, and requires routine maintenance to keep it operating.
Of course, you'll want to learn all you can about the
basics of the Internet.
Here you will learn about a Browser,
How to Search,
about Financial
Safety on the Web, how to customize your
Home Page, and how a lot of people are earning extra
income from the Web.
Jump right in, learning
is what changes your world!
When you decide to buy
a computer, or (lucky you) someone is going to buy one for
you, this is a guide to be sure that you only pay for what you
need.
You need to read this page if you're thinking about upgrading your present computer to Windows 7.
Then, just for fun, here's a page on
Customizing your computer Your
Way!
Everyone wants to know about eMail and Fun things to do.
"More" is your link to other websites that can give you more computer help when you're ready.
Meanwhile, I'm accumulating a Bonus page of Quick Tips for you to check often.A very important page that I don't want you to miss is Brain Health, everyone's concern and responsibility.
Just a note: I've been amazed to find that I have readers from Canada, Australia, Brazil, to South Africa. Forgive me that I have written to an American audience.. I just wasn't thinking big enough, so I hope the translator button will be useful to you.
